I’m so excited you’re here !
If you’ve stumbled upon this blog in hopes of finding someone who has it all together, you’ll be sadly disappointed. Because all you will find here are reflections of an imperfect me. 😉
I am Allison Henderson. =)

Behind my poor grammar, you’ll find a very flawed, only partially educated dreamer. BUT- if you’re willing to look deeper than the surface, you might find a beautiful diamond tucked away beneath all this soot. With a little pressure you’ll see this cheesy, but passionate wordsmith, who God just might use to touch your life in an extraordinary way.
I’ve spent most of my life trying to appear as something different than the lump of coal I’m still pressing through. After 30 plus years of wearing a mask that’s way too small to fit a heart as grand as mine, I’ve decide to be myself instead.
I promise to do my best at telling you a little bit about me, but it’s like trying to fit an ocean of personality into a tiny message in a bottle.
My desire is to be raw and honest with you. Because I believe that we connect with one another not in our strengths, but in the vulnerability of our weaknesses.
I love expressing myself creatively in all mediums. I love writing, poetry, journaling, and apparently-now blogging is a thang for me too! I love music. Seriously. I love singing, playing the piano, listening and especially writing it!
I love EVERYTHING British-especially period dramas. If I wasn’t such a picky eater, I’d be all about the scones and tea life! Pinkie’s up ladies!
I’m enamored with art. I love painting and creating it anyway I can, and I so appreciate others who do the same. It stirs something DEEP inside my soul. My favorite release is in repurposing and restoring things others have cast away, as useless. I believe NOTHING is useless and beyond repair. I see the same in people. Not a one is useless or beyond repair. I think that everything is beautiful, we only need to adjust our heart to see it clearly. What we focus on, is the view we see. Where you see broken. I see reborn. I’m pretty sure I got that ‘sight’ from my Father.
The best thing about me is those I love, and those who are brave enough to love me.
I’m wife to a fiercely driven, super annoying, big hearted, wanna be gangsta, Brad. (but they call him B-Rad in the streets) We met on MySpace and knew each other only 6 VERY LONG weeks before we married. Ha! 13 years later, we’re still fighting…for this love we got! He’s my best friend, and the only person on the planet with a harder head than my own. He keeps me grounded, but not anchored. I’m the kite, you see, but he’s the tail.
I’m also the mother to two blessings- turned teenagers. I have an “Almost 18” year old son named Caide. He’s clearly a genius because any thing I tell him he already knows or has a better way to do it. HA!
Caide was diagnosed with Aspergers (high functioning ASD) at age 11, and because of the power of prayer, he has not only remained in mainstream classes, but will be graduating this year with college credits. Most people never know his diagnosis or the struggle he’s had in arriving at this healing. He’s the kindest person I’ve ever met. He just doesn’t know it yet.
If there were polar opposites in children, I’m raising them.
Brooke is a very creative artist, who loves to read and write. She can find art in literally anything and write amazing stories that will have you on the edge of your seat! She loves people and always tries to brighten others lives with encouragement. She run a shop that sells all her art and the ways she expresses it. You can check out her stuff on my home page under “A Bird Cage Boutique”.
Gods worked some miracles in her and through her as well. I had her 5 weeks early via an emergency c-section ”during hurricane Rita. Yep. I gave birth during a hurricane. She traveled in an ambulance, helicopter, and two different states before she was even a day old. She’s gentle like her name suggest but stronger in spirit and God has BIG plans for her life.
I guess you could say that God has given me double rainbows….constant reminders that He’s a promise keeper and I get to see them everyday in the lives of my children, Caide and Brooke.
My hope is that in my nothingness, YOU SEE HIS GREATNESS.
HOPE is a funny thing. It can be dashed. It can be resigned. It can be less. But when placed in Christ, it can never be lost.
“I am brave, I am bruised
I am who I’m meant to be, this is me.
Look out ’cause here I come,
And I’m marching on to the beat I drum
I’m not scared to be seen
I make no apologies, this is me.”
